The Hague at night.... Pretty

My lovely host Sofia transformed herself into a valet last night to accommodate my strange foot problems... Luckily for us she is one of the fastest speed walkers I ever did see so she walked next to me while I biked as slowly as possible. (We reflected fondly about our friend Ben who went the speed-walking nationals in the US as a ten year old.)

Sofia's social life mostly centers around other Hague interns and 'young diplomats'... and one of the major points of commonality between her friend group is their nation's involvement in the OPCW. The "Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons', DUH. Amazing how something Di unknown to me a week ago became such an obvious part of daily conversation this weekend. Last night we went to Sofia's friend's friend's piano show at a hyggelig little pub near the center if town. Awesome mix of Aretha Franklin, Leonard Cohen, and some badass Russian ballads. The pianist is Russian and has a crazy powerful voice... rekindled my interest in / fascination with all things Slavic.

I discovered the 'panorama' function on my phone yesterday and I'm not looking back....
